Baron's Pub Servers is intended to be a collective of well-maintained public online gaming servers, designed to promote enjoyable gameplay in innovative online games.
The Pub
The original Baron's Pub was a 12 slot server in the Half-Life modification The Specialists. This server has since shut down, but during it's long lifespan, it attracted a major following of gamers who just wanted a place to play without having to worry about cheaters, childish behavior, or clan politics.
Taking down the original Pub was a move that saddened the Baron. But, now, he's looking to bring it back, and on a much larger scale.
Our Business Philosophy
Everyone loves a well maintained pub. Good, reliable admins, good map rotations, enforcement of rules: these are all things that make a server worth playing on. Of course, these days, such places are harder and harder to find.
Baron's Pub has always been dedicated to making the best possible gaming experience. It is a pub for gamers, by gamers. While the Baron does love being the big cheese, he knows that no one likes the kid who takes his ball and goes home, and he remembers where he came from. He remembers being stuck in horrible custom maps because map voting was disabled. He remembers admins who were total jerks, or who were never there at all. He remembers enduring hours of that one guy who just won't stop whining every time he gets killed. In Baron's Pub, these are things of the past.
Online gaming servers shouldn't cost the players anything. The best things in life are free. So, Baron's Pub does its best to survive with the Baron's favorite form of evil, advertisements. While there's a steady stream of advertisers now, thanks to Google, there is always room for more. These advertisers help insure that admin rights will never be for sale. There is no faster way to ruin a good server than by selling admin spots.
